When is the Lights of the North Festival?

The Lights of the North Festival is a 6-week celebration that starts on Friday, August 31 and ends Sunday 21st October

Where is The Lights of the North Festival?
3977 Portage Avenue. Red River Exhibition Park. It’s just after the west perimeter overpass near the Pointe West AutoPark and the MTS Iceplex. Access via Racetrack Road or Festival Drive.
Is the Lantern Light Festival for children?
It sure is. Children of all ages are sure to enjoy the incredible light displays, cultural performances and interactive activities.
Is this an indoor or outdoor event?
This is an outdoor event at Red Rive Exhibition Park.   There are plenty of places to get out of the heat or rain. Some of our sheltered buildings include: Exhibition Place, The Pet Centre, and Discovery Place as well as lots of tents.
Is the Park wheelchair accessible?
The entire Park is wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs & Scooters are available to rent upon arrival.

All public buildings have wheelchairs and ramps to accommodate all wheelchairs and scooters alike. Telephones are available for our hearing impaired guests on all of the payphones throughout the Park.

What do you do to address safety?
Safety is our number one concern at the Lights of the North Festival. We have a large security presence at the Lights of the North Festival, including a private security company we hire as well as the Winnipeg Police Service.   Both of these groups are positioned at the front gates and roam the Park on a consistent basis before, during and after all operating hours.

How do I purchase tickets?
Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online. We recommend you purchase your tickets online to guarantee admission and to avoid waiting in line upon arrival. Click here to purchase your tickets now.
Do I need to print my tickets if purchased online?
You can print your online tickets at home or simply show the barcode on your smart phone for scanning at the main entrance upon arrival.
What does my ticket admission include?
Tickets include admission to view all the lantern exhibitions, dinosaur alive, and performances. Food, Beverages and hand crafts will be for sale.
Can I bring outside food/drink into the festival?
No outside food or drinks will be allowed into the festival.
If I cannot attend, can I get a refund for my tickets?
Sorry, we do not offer refunds for unused tickets. All tickets are final sale once the transaction is processed. We reserve the right to cancel a night in case of extreme weather or other unforeseeable conditions that may jeopardize the safety of our customers.
Do you offer group discounts?
Sure we do! We offer a discount for groups of more than 20 people. Please use the following discount code when ordering 20 or more tickets GROUP2018
What are the hours for the performances?

3D Light and Water Projection First show at dusk. Every half hour thereafter*. *Weather dependent. May not be played in windy conditions.

Fireworks begin at 10:15pm
Can I re-enter the festival on the same day if I must leave?
Yes. You will get a hand-stamp on exiting the park should you return later that day.
Will food and alcohol be available for purchase?
Yes. Our menu includes both Canadian and Chinese cuisine. Non-alcoholic beverages, beer, and wine will also be available.
Where can I Park?
Parking is $5 per vehicle payable upon arrival at the main entrance to Red River Exhibition Park.
Do I have to pay for parking?
Yes. The parking will be  $5 per vehicle.
Do you provide services for parents with infants?
There are baby changing stations in the public washroom.
Can I touch the lanterns?
No. Our lanterns are hand-crafted by Chinese artisans and built using hundreds of pieces of silk. Please do not touch the lanterns. We will have rope around the exhibits for protection. We ask you to stay behind the rope and not to touch or climb on the lanterns.
Can I photograph the lanterns?
YES! You can take as many photos as you like as long as you agree that Lights of the North has the right to use your photos on our website and other promotional materials in the future. Please use #lightsofthenorth or #LOTN2018 to have your images featured on our social media platforms.
Can I smoke onsite?
No. The Lantern Light Festival is a smoke-free event.
How about my pet?
Assisted living animals are permitted, but we cannot accommodate to other guests’ pets. We do love pets, but unfortunately pets are not allowed in the Park and shouldn’t be left unattended in vehicles. Please make arrangements while you’re visiting us for the evening.
Will automatic tellers be available at the festival?
Yes, there are several ATMs on the grounds.
Will we be lighting and releasing lanterns at the festival?
No. All lanterns are mounted to the ground.
